DESCRIPTION BOOK : Helen Wood was born on April 13, 1899 in Corwith, Iowa. She was raised by Baptist parents, Charles Rolin (CR) and Linnie Wood. CR was a lawyer, banker, pillar in the Baptist church, and 32nd Degree Mason. Helen was raised by strict parents, but it was her father that she came to idolize. He taught her to drive the horse and buggy, then the automobile. When there were no service stations, he only wanted Helen to service his automobiles. He was the one that took her on long walks to 'drown worms,' 'catch gophers,' and to make her whistles from a willow branch. When Helen went on her first date, it was CR that sat most of the day in his car, 'out of sight.' These were exciting times that we, today, have little true knowledge of because we only know it by reading history books, not living it. Welcome to a small taste of 'living in 1900 to 1925.'
